According to Fire Marshal Charlie Valadie Tuesday afternoon, June 18, 2019 was very busy for the Magee Fire Department following a wreck and house fire.

Magee FD responded to a motor vehicle accident with entrapment, HWY 49 north bound lane – north of Covington Co line. The vehicle left the road, & went down an embankment, overturned, coming to rest on its side, on a slope near the edge of the woods. One person was entrapped. The location of the vehicle was causing it to be unstable. Magee began extrication operations immediately upon arrival. Vehicle damage, leaking fuel, & other safety issues as noted above, resulted in a lengthy, but successful & safe extrication. Paramedics were monitoring patient’s condition during the entire time. Paramedics made the decision to have patient transported by helicopter. With law enforcement assistance, all traffic was diverted to a frontage road & the entire highway was shut down for a safe landing zone. Patient was flown to a medical facility.
