Tuesday was one of those days in Magee where it seemed like everything happened at once — gas leaks, water leaks, and even a wreck! I’m still gathering details (waiting on a few call backs), but I do have pictures to share soon!

The first alert came early: GAS LINE BREAK! 🚨
Emergency personnel responded quickly to South Main and 5th Street SW, where a gas line rupture caused quite a stir. Crews were immediately on scene directing traffic and ensuring everyone’s safety. Residents were urged to avoid the area until further notice while repairs got underway.

Update on gas line break:  Repaired

Then, as if that wasn’t enough excitement, word came of a water main break at 1st Avenue SE and Pinola Drive SE, just north of Highway 49. City crews wasted no time jumping into action, working diligently to get water service restored and the street back in shape.

And finally — rounding out the busy day — a wreck occurred on Highway 49 near Siloan Road. From what I could see, it appeared to involve just one vehicle. Thankfully, first responders were on scene, and I’ll share updates as soon as I have more information.

From Fire Chief David Craft: Red car was heading south turning at Siloam intersection to go across 49 northbound onto Siloam avenue. White truck was traveling north behind another vehicle when red car pulled out and hit white truck. Driver of red car said she didn’t see him behind the other vehicle and she said it was her fault. No injuries
Witness got it all on their personal dash cam.

Never a dull moment in Magee! Our emergency personnel and city crews were hopping all day, and we appreciate their hard work and quick response to keep everyone safe and informed.
