The passage of Scripture selected for today is found in Galatians 5:25: “Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.” The early Christians had been told by Jesus before He ascended back to His Father that He’d send a comforter, a guide, a “friend” to be with them in His absence. The Holy Spirit was assigned those duties, and He’s still imbued with providing those services to all born-again believers. We are to turn to Him, confide in Him, and ask Him to lead, guard, and direct our every move. I consider Him my best friend. I do, indeed, join with theologian John Henry Newman, who penned these immortal words, “So long Thy power hath led me, sure still will lead me on.” Amen!
