Joan Forrest Hammons of Taylorsville, Mississippi

Joan Forrest Hammons, 77, of Taylorsville, Mississippi, passed away on Thursday, November 5, 2020, at University Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi. She was born Wednesday, March 3, 1943, in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 10, 2020, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Magee, Mississippi.

A memorial mass will be held Friday, November 13, 2020, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in Magee, Mississippi, with Father Antony Chakkalkkal officiating. A private family burial will follow in Cedar Grove Methodist Church Cemetery, in Raleigh, Mississippi, with Bro. Davy Hammons officiating at the graveside. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Magee is in charge of arrangements. (601) 849-5031

Mrs. Hammons was a member of St. Stephen’s Catholic Church.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, and sister.  She was devoted in doing her prayer rosary daily which included praying for her family and friends.   She enjoyed cooking and eating, making jewelry and spending time with her grandchildren.  She will be greatly missed by her loving family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Rex L. Hammons; parents, Walter Forrest and Leila Forrest.

Survivors include her three sons, Chris Hammons of Raleigh, Keith Hammons and wife, Sandy of Morton, and Ken Hammons and wife, Joanne of Raleigh; three daughters, Paula Sims and husband, Dewayne of Raleigh, Angela Reulet and husband Lynn, of Taylorsville, and Rexann Hammons of Maine; twelve grandchildren, Joshua Hammons and wife, Alyssa, Kelly Sims, Kayla Sims, Hannah Hammons Valentine and husband, Lane, Christen Hammons, Brandon Hammons, Matthew Hammons, Samantha Hammons, Dawn Reulet, Dalton Reulet, Madison Hammons, and Halle Hammons; one great-grandson, Kase Valentine; one brother, Walter J. Forrest and wife, Brenda of Tennessee; and a host of other family members and friends.
