He was born on July 7, 1981, in Jackson, MS, to his loving parents, Vicki Turner Shamburger of Flowood and Gaines Shamburger of Clinton.
For the past 4 years, Jimmy was a tow boat pilot for the Canal Barge Company. He had worked for Canal Barge since 2009 in various positions while earning his pilot license. Jimmy loved to send out inspiring pictures of sunrises and sunsets, wildlife, and other interesting observations from his boat travels. He graduated from Clinton High School in 1999 and earned a BA in Business Management from Belhaven College in 2003.
More than anything else in this world, Jimmy loved his family, especially his nephews and niece. They affectionately called him “Uncle Bubba.” He also enjoyed the outdoors and spending time working on his family farm.
Jimmy was truly loved by his many friends. He was known as a great big man with a great big laugh and an even bigger heart. Fiercely loyal and generous, he was often found doing favors, big and small. To those that knew him, he was considered to be genuine, friendly, caring, always willing to help out, and he could be extremely funny.
He was clever, bright, curious, talented, and skilled with his hands and tools. Over the years, he had taught himself to build and/or fix just about anything.
Jimmy had given his life to Jesus and accepted Him as his Savior as a young man. He was an active member of New Bethlehem Baptist Church, near his home in the Martinville community.
He is survived by his parents; his twin sister, Dr. Amye Shamburger of Flowood and her sons, Aidan and Preston; his older sister, Dr. Susan Shamburger Smith of Tupelo, and her husband, Dr. Clint Smith, their children Turner, Henry, and Elle; his paternal grandparents, Rev. and Mrs. Gordon Shamburger of Madison; his aunt, Patricia Melech of Tampa, FL; his uncle and aunt, Mark and Nita Turner of Merit.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jim H. and Sue Nell (Myers) Turner of Magee.
