Jerald Kennedy passed away peacefully on Friday, March 1, 2019, at St. Dominic Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 31, 1938, to the late J.W. Kennedy and Minnie (Martin) Kennedy in Smith County.
Formerly an oilfield electrician, he has been enjoying retirement for the last many years. Before that, for over 20 plus years, he owned and operated Kennedy and Son Grocery with his parents. Jerald was a kind and honorable man, a steadfast friend, devoted husband, a supportive father and loving grandfather. Above all else, he loved his family and friends. He adored spending time with his only grandson, Weston and recently, great-grandson, Cooper.
He is survived by his loving wife of sixty years, Nell Blackwell Kennedy; son, Andy Kennedy; daughter, Kim Kennedy Neely; grandson, Weston Neely (Hannah) and great-grandson, Cooper Neely.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jesse Wayne Kennedy.
