(It being the out pouring of love and support for the James Blair family and law enforcement.)
Wednesday, the MageeNews team (Patrice, Julianna, and myself) covered the funeral of Deputy James Blair who was killed in the line of duty on Friday, June 12, 2020. Joaquin Blackwell has been charged in the death of Deputy James Blair.
Mendenhall was full of law enforcement. I cannot even guess the number of vehicles with blue lights in the area. I don’t think I can even guess the number of motorcycles, fire trucks, police cars! I saw vehicles from the coast to north Mississippi. Even Mississippi State campus police were in attendance.
A band of blue…a band of brothers…this group of men and women are truly a band. The support shown to their fellow lawman brought tears to my eyes.
Congressman Michael Guest was in attendance. Michael is a personal friend of Simpson County Sheriff Paul Mullins.
All the TV stations from Jackson were represented. There were cameras everywhere. ( And here’s little ole MageeNews right up in the middle of everything!) The big boys don’t have anything on us Simpson County folks.
The days ahead for family and friends of Deputy Blair will be difficult. If you have ever lost someone suddenly, the shock almost puts you under. Tears were flowing and hearts were broken.
I will be sharing pictures and videos for several days. The live videos are on MageeNews.com Facebook page now.
Miles and miles of cars, trucks, and motorcycles expressed respect to fallen Deputy James Blair. The man was loved. Deputy Blair had 50 years of law enforcement experience.
Prayers for his family. Prayers for our law enforcement. Prayers for the people. We are a nation built on principals that keep us strong.
