The rising cost of curbs and gutters was discussed. Presently the city charges $8 a foot. The city buys the materials and builds the curbs. The city is losing money at this price. The charge will increase but no amount was decided.
In Airport matters: Phone was secured for the airport for $17 per month. Mayor Berry complimented Ashley Steele on the excellent job she is doing at the airport. A short discussion was held concerning hanger renters who are not purchasing any gas. To rent a hanger, a plane must be operable; therefore, gas would be needed. The Mayor and Ashley will look further into this matter. The board is considering a $600 security/camera system for the airport.
No reports from police or fire department.
Discussion was held concerning a sink hole or area that is holding water on 12th avenue (near the walking track in Eastside). The subdivision was prepared in 1978. The city gave a proposal to the land owner to help with the problem. The landowner will not allow city employees on his property. Legally, the city is not responsible for problems caused by pipes etc not installed by the city on private land. More details are available on the video of Tuesday night’s meeting.
The City is aware of the condition of the flag near Zips. The cost to replace the flag is $640. The Mayor and Board are in favor of replacing the flag with the same size flag. The City Clerk will check the budget for any money available for the replacement.
City Hall will be closed Thursday and Friday.
