WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-Miss.) today voted to confirm William P. Barr to be the nation’s next Attorney General of the United States.
Hyde-Smith, who met with Barr prior to the confirmation vote, expressed confidence in Barr’s qualifications to lead the U.S. Department of Justice.
“William Barr has a long and distinguished record of service to our nation, and I have no doubt he will continue that record in a second go-around as our Attorney General,” Hyde-Smith said. “I appreciate his commitment to lead the Justice Department with integrity and impartiality, which is what the American people expect and deserve.”
Barr served as Attorney General under President George H.W. Bush, and previously held other positions within the Justice Department, Central Intelligence Agency, and the Reagan White House.
