Some people love Christmas…but I am telling you, David and Amy love Halloween! Beginning in July, Amy, Dave, Evan, Emma, and Morgan began preparations for Halloween. (For all they do, they need to begin in July!)
David became infatuated with Halloween in college…the rest is history. According to Amy, Dave is on a first name basic with the people at Home Depot and every bargain/craft stores in Mississippi. They are always in pursuit of a bargain!
Each decoration has a story to tell. They all have a special meaning to each member of the family.
Amy’s speciality is the hand carved pumpkins. The details of the pumpkins are amazing. She carves craft pumpkins not real ones. (If I put that much work in a pumpkin, I would not want it to rot!)
One area Dave expanded this year was the pond scene. He has the Knight’s Timpler, the Ferryman on the Sytxs, and assorted casualties of a battle intertwined with lights and torches.
The yard is a conglomerate of everything Halloween. The garage serves as a Haunted House. The yard has a cemetery complete with moving creatures. Holograms are everywhere. Big ole eyes are glaring from the front of the house. Ghost are flying from the trees dipping in the wind.
A must see is the headless horseman.
The decorations do not stop at the door to the house! The living area is filled with “unusual” family portraits, a collection of witches, and other unique directions.
Don’t you wish you had an invitation? Well, if you do, tell Amy or Dave to put you on the list for next year!
“Halloween on the Hill” is quite an experience.
