The annual Magee Christmas parade is history! Yes, we have once again celebrated the beginning of the holidays with lights, bands, floats, beauty queens, fire trucks, big trucks… even golf carts! The parade was a success and the judges made their decision….drum roll…First place—Mt Zion’s Christian School…Second place—Magee General Hospital/Healthtrust…Third place—Boswell Regional Center! The floats were absolutely beautiful and I know the judges had a difficult time reaching a decision!
(I will be posting parade pictures later in the morning).

Did you know that we have a company called Nature Crest, LLC located right here in Simpson County that sells naturally grown Shiitake mushrooms? Personally, I had no idea what a Shiitake mushroom was…sounded kind of weird to me…but after a little research I learned this is one of nature’s food that has tremendous as an immune booster. Call Nettie and talk with her about this food. (601-847-4244…additional information is available on Swap Shop)

A reception honoring Superintendent Glenn Harris is scheduled for Monday, December 14th from 3:30-6:00 PM at the Mendenhall Civic Center. Mr. Harris has served the children of Simpson County for 32 years.

Special prayers for Dempsey Sullivan. Dempsey was in an accident Thursday causing severe damage to his hand.. This is an update from his family: “Update on Dempsey Sullivan after 81/2 surgery he is in recovery they were able to reattach all fingers arteries and veins the hand immediately started to get color in fingers praise god praise god praise god at 2 am they had decided to remove his hand but they called one more doctor in from home he said he was proud they called him he wouldn’t give up he worked for hours everything right now its a wait and see if blood continues to flow to hand.” Continue to remember Dempsey and family in your prayers.

Joyce Walker is still very serious. She remains on the vent…and doctor’s cannot get her off the vent. Her sweet precious family needs our prayers also.

Many of you may know that Taco Bell was evacuated at noon Thursday due to a natural gas leak. The restaurant was full of people when people started to smell gas…the fire department told the employees to evacuate the building immediately…which they did…Willmut Gas and Oil came and shut off the gas. The location of the leak was one large burner on a stove. Thank goodness the leak was isolated! I am glad we’ve got people in our community to volunteer their services to keep us safe as well as people who are dedicated to the company where they are employed! We’ve just got good people in Simpson County!

Two fires last night in the Magee area. I will have details later in the morning. (waiting for the report). One was a building fire at Boswell and one a residence on Raleigh Drive. I do not know details …but working on it! Seriously, when the temperature drops the fires go up. Please be careful during these cold cold nights!

Magee Soccer today!!! Team play begins at 2 and should end around 9!!! Teams from Crystal Springs and Sumrall are joining the jamboree. Game times are 2:00, 3:30, & 5:00—go Trojans!

Last call for items for the Christmas Shop sponsored by the youth of the First Baptist Church of Magee. There is still a need for new toys and food. Items may be taken to the FBC Family Life Center anytime today (Friday). Who knows who you’ll bless with your donation!
