The Scriptural passage chosen for today is taken from James 5:15-16: “The prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned, he will be forgiven. Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.” Yes, the gospel writer wished to stress the importance of prayer to bring about healing in the lives of God’s people. The early Christians met often in one another’s homes to offer up prayers for their sick, to fellowship, and to confess their need for the healing of loved ones and themselves. We are still admonished to do the same today. God looks upon the heart and knows when we are sick in body and humbled in spirit. He hears our prayers and answers them in accordance to His will for our lives. He wants to have our input and to hear our supplications. Let us pray for one another, ask for divine healing for others, as well as for ourselves. God is the Great Physician, the Healer. In fact, it was He, Who performed the first surgery in the Garden of Eden. Let’s put our trust in Him, pray earnestly, and He’ll take care of the rest. Amen!
