George Alexander Ware, 89, of Brandon, Mississippi, passed away Saturday at River Oaks Hospital in Flowood, Mississippi. He was born Thursday, June 5, 1930.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 28, 2019 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Magee, Mississippi.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, August 29, 2019 at 1:00 PM at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Magee. The Burial will follow at Sharon Presbyterian Cemetery. Bro Gene Amason and Joey Nelms will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Magee is in charge of arrangements. (601) 849-5031
George was a proud and willing service member of the U.S. Navy through service during the Korean War, and a recipient of the Korean Medal of Good Conduct. He retired from AT&T after thirty three years of service as both a switchman and lineman. He gave generously to many charities and churches throughout his life. George loved to travel and spend time with his family. He would often take his family on trips to Ouray, Colorado, his favorite place to visit. George shared his late wife’s passion for gardening, a passion he has passed to his great grand-daughters. Though he had Parkinson’s, his spirit was unbreakable.
He was preceded in death by Wife of 59 Years, Cleda Ware, Parents, Howard and Ora Runnels Ware, Brother, Judean Ware, and Sister, Jewel Amason.
Survivors include Daughter, Jan Batson and Husband, Calvin, Grandchildren, Carmen Humphrey and Husband, Ron, Joey Nelms and Wife, Casey, Great-grandchildren, Emmalyn Humphrey and Kaitlyn Humphrey.
Pallbearers will be Calvin Batson, Joey Nelms, Ron Humphrey, David Ware, Mark Whittington, and Don Huang, Honorary pallbearer will be Paul Ware.
