Garnet Fay Whitaker Craft, 68, of Magee, MS, passed away Saturday, June 24, 2023, at Forrest General Hospital, surrounded by her family. She was born December 2, 1954, to the late Warren Harvey Whitaker and Helen Ingle Whitaker.
Garnet was a lady of many talents. Raising a house full of boys was no small task, but she and her husband, Larry, did a great job. She was a wonderful wife and mother. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and reading…especially reading to children! She worked at the library for over fifteen years. After the boys were grown and the death of her husband, she started going on trips with her girlfriends. Some of the activities on those trips involved ziplining and water tubing!
She had a sweet and kind spirit, but most importantly, she had a strong faith in God. She adored her grandchildren and anything that they were involved in. She has influenced many children over the years with her compassion. She was a lifelong member of Dry Creek Baptist Church.
She is survived by her five sons, Jason (Tasha) Craft, David (Lea) Craft, Michael (Nicole) Craft, Adam (Leigh) Craft, and Aaron (Crissy) Craft; four sisters, Gail (Gary) Hamilton, Brenda (Don) Harris, Linda Kemp, Janice (Jimmy) Cromwell, all of Magee; ten grandchildren, Austin Craft, Samantha Craft, Daley Craft, Maddie Craft, Molly Craft, Colton Craft, Brian Craft, Alivia Craft, Ethan Craft, and Kevin Craft; three great-grandchildren, Elijah Craft, Aubrey Craft, and River Craft.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Warren and Helen Whitaker; her husband, Larry Dale Craft, and brother-in-law, Archie Kemp.
Visitation for Garnet will be held on Monday, June 26, 2023, at Tutor Funeral Home in Magee, MS, from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm. Services will be at 10:00 am on Tuesday, June 27, 2023, at Dry Creek Baptist Church. Bro. Joe Metts will officiate the service with interment following in Dry Creek Cemetery.
