The Simpson Invitational Cross Country Meet was held Monday, October 1 at Neely Farms in Magee.
More than 730 runners were registered for the Simpson Invitational Cross Country Meet, making it one of the largest cross country meets of the MAIS cross country season. The meet included the following four different races: JV Girls, JV Boys, Varsity Girls and Varsity Boys.

The overall winner of the JV Girls 3200 Meter Race was Olivia Smith of Jackson Academy with a time of 14:42.00.
Jackson Academy won the JV Girls 3200 Meter race with a total of 20 points, followed by Madison-Ridgeland Academy with 75, Jackson Preparatory School with 78, Adams County Christian School with 107, East Rankin Academy with 117, Riverfield Academy with 144, and Lucedale Light Brigade with 180.
Joseph Garrity of Cathedral Unit School won the JV Boys 3200 Meter Race with a time of 12:42.00.
Garrity led his team to victory in the race with a score of 34 points. 2nd place went to Jackson Academy with 41 points, followed by Jackson Preparatory School with 61. Mt. Salus Christian School placed 4th with 110 points, followed by East Rankin Academy with 120.
The Varsity Girls 5K Race had 173 finishers, and Julia Stradinger of Jackson Preparatory School won with a time of 20:33.00. Prep went on to win the race with a score of 55 points, followed by the following teams:

Simpson Academy’s cross country season will wrap up with the MAIS Overall State Cross Country Meet on October 23 at Choctaw Trails in Clinton.
