Edgar Stevenson “Eddie” Loftin, 83, of Magee, Mississippi passed from his earthly home to his heavenly home on Monday, December 21, 2020. He was born on February 27, 1937, in Carson, Mississippi.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 29, 2020, from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Magee, Mississippi, and funeral  services will follow at 2 p.m. at the church. Burial will follow the funeral at Jones Cemetery in Mize, Mississippi.  Bro. Tommy Jennings will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Magee is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Loftin or Mr. Eddie, as he was known by so many, was a graduate of Mississippi State University where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Poultry Science. He served in the Military in the National Guard. He was a pioneer in the poultry industry, literally working his way from the most modest of jobs to upper management, and retired as Division Manager of Sanderson Farms Production in McComb, Mississippi. He designed the hatcheries that Sanderson and other companies utilize today. Upon retirement, Mr. Eddie ran for and served the City of Magee on the Board Aldermen. He utilized his business and finance expertise to better the city while maintaining fiscal responsibility.  He also believed strongly in addressing and meeting the needs of the people anytime they ever called upon him. He was a member of and served as the Treasurer of First United Methodist Church and was a member of the T.J. Burnham Sunday School Class. He was a devoted husband, father, great grandfather, brother, son and friend.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar Allen Loftin and Mary Elizabeth Stevenson Loftin; one grandson, William Stevenson Loftin;  one brother, Earl Loftin and one sister, Katherine Loftin McNair.

Survivors include his loving wife, Nancy Stubbs Loftin of Magee; one son, Randy Loftin and wife, Terri  of Magee; one daughter, Jacquelyn Loftin Odom and husband, Bill of Laurel; granddaughter, Lindsey Loftin Hitchcock and husband, Blake of Magee; two great granddaughters, Kennedy Hitchcock and Mary Adley Hitchcock of Magee; and a number of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
