Dorothy Louise Higgins Garner, 92, of Magee, Mississippi

Dorothy Louise Higgins Garner, 92, of Magee, Mississippi, passed away on Wednesday, October 7, 2020, at Lakeview Assisted Living in Magee, Mississippi. She was born Friday, April 27, 1928, in Magee, Mississippi.

Graveside funeral service will be held Thursday, October 8, 2020, at 3:00 p.m. at Sharon Presbyterian Cemetery in Magee, Mississippi. Bro. Mike Ahlberg will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Magee is in charge of arrangements. (601) 849-5031

Mrs. Garner began her nursing career at Mississippi State Sanatorium.  She continued her nursing at Mississippi State Whitfield and then to Boswell.  She enjoyed her nursing until retiring at the age of 78.  She was a member of Beulah Baptist Church.  She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend.  She will be greatly missed by all her loving family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, L.H. Garner, Jr.; one daughter, Sandra Brewer; parents, Richard Higgins and Nonia Higgins; son-in-law, Arthur “Pete” Brewer; one brother, J.R. Higgins; and one sister, Willie Mae Brister.

Survivors include her two sons, James H. Garner and wife Peggy of Mt. Olive and Joe D. Garner of Magee; one daughter, Ann Abercrombie and husband Reed of Seminary; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two great-great- grandchildren; one brother, Truman Higgins and wife, Grace of Mt. Olive; one sister, Patricia Sullivan of Mize; and a host of other family members and friends.

Pallbearers will be Family and Friends.
