Dog Control in Simpson County

Simpson county resident Mike Dilmore met before the Simpson County Board of Supervisors during their regular scheduled meeting (02/15/2022) to discuss concerns of dog control within the county. Dilmore’s wife Lynn was attached by a pack of six dogs and taken to the ground. Dilmore pleaded with the Board to adopt or pass some type of ordinance against dogs within the county not properly penned or housed. The board agreed to have the attorney investigate what can and can not be done and decide at a future meeting.

 

Dr. Dewayne Middleton with Copiah Lincoln Community College met before the board updating  the workforce classes available at the Simpson campus. Dr. Middleton asked for assistance recruiting students to attend the classes offered. These classes must have 10 or more students to meet. The workforce program at Co-Lin offers, welding, truck driving, CNA, EMT, and SOLTA.

Tax Assessor Jamie Brewer came before the board asking for assistance on delinquent solid waste charges. Brewer advised a system that could be utilized to inform the tax office on solid waste bills that are delinquent. The board agreed any solid waste bill over $35 late to be tagged delinquent and car tags will be flagged and not allowed to be purchase or renewed until bill is current.

The board considered and adopted the Proposed Redistricting Plan for Supervisors, Justice Court and Constable Districts.

The board approved the hiring of Ted Warren as the Solid Waste Manage effective March 1, 2022.

The board approved the burial of two dead horses for Felicia Hasoov  and Gale McPhail.

The board approved the immediate payment to Truckworx in the amount of $558,000,00 upon delivery of three 2023 Truckworx Kenworth tandem axle dump trucks.

Sheriff Paul Mullins presented the following report for approval.

Solid Waste adjusted routes for the President’s holiday week of February 21, 2022 will be Tuesday,  Wednesday, and Thursday,  No collection on Monday.
