Long time postal employee, Delmas McAlpin died Tuesday, October 20th. Delmas was the old “Route 2” carrier for many many years. He was active in the church and loved his hunting club buddies.
Delmas is survived by his wife Johnell.

Delmas was a special friend of mine….In fact, I’ve known him all my life. He and his wife operated a business on Main Street Magee (Delmas’) next door to my parents business (Dickey’s). When I left Main Street, I went to the post office to work…and Delmas was there. My early learning years at the PO were spent under Delmas, Billy Ray Kennedy, and Frances Welch….excellent teachers and wonderful role models….people of substance.
My heart is sad…another one of my parent’s friends has died…slowly that generation is leaving me.
