Burn Ban in Effect for County

A burn ban was implemented during the Simpson County Board of Supervisors meeting Friday, October 14, 2022. All residents of Simpson County are warned of no burning allowed until further notice.

Sheriff Paul Mullins received approval to to hire Olivia Gilmore as full time non-certified dispatcher. The board also approved the hiring of Destiny Jackson as part-time non-certified. Ronnie Brown was approved as a new hire for the jail full-time non-certified. Mullins requested approval for the Dog Team pro annual subscription for two dogs. Request was approved.

John Killpatrick with EOC reported a total of 1048 911 calls for September 15 – October 14, 2022. Last year at same time, a total of 1169 calls were received. The county had a total of 5 structure fires for the month. A total of $4930 was received in permits. Killpatrick reminded everyone the Great Shakeout is October 20, 2022 at 10:20 a.m. A Red Cross training with  each fire department will take place.

Ted Warren with Simpson County Solid Waste gave an update to the board on day to day activities at the Rubbish Facility. The board approved to hire Johnny Hobbs as a new hire for the Solid Waste Department.
