Monday morning , April 20, 2020, a vehicle was located by MDOT while cleaning debris and trash from the right away of Highway 49 South in Mendenhall.

The MDOT crew spotted a crumbled bumper which led the men to investigate the area finding a submerged vehicle in the creek.  The Ford Mustang bearing a Simpson County tag was badly mangled with a body inside.

According to Mendenhall Policeman Allen Moore, the body has been identified as Robert Dalton Curtis of Magee.  Curtis was last seen April 14, 2020 in Magee.  He was reported missing on April 16,2020.

The vehicle reportedly was traveling north on Highway 49 and appeared to have crossed the median and south bound lane before landing in the creek.

The Mendenhall Police Department is handling the investigation.
