Billy Ray Russell Sr., 88, of Raleigh, MS passed away on Friday, July 30, 2021, at his home surrounded by his loving family.  He was born January 18, 1933, in Pineville, MS to Truman Delton Russell and Bessie Mae (Matthews) Russell.
He was a service member of The United States Army and fought during the Korean War. He was a member of the MS Cattlemen’s Association, MS Hereford Association and Smith County Livestock Association. He was an active member of First Baptist Church of Raleigh. He was a fine Christian man, loved his family and a true friend to many.
He is survived by his wife, Joann (Miller) Russell; sons, William D. Russell, Glen M. Russell, Billy R. Russell, Jr.; daughters, Teresa Luckey (Burney), Sherry L. Lee (Craig); brothers, Doyle Russell (Shirley), James Russell (Gayle); sisters, Nina Little, Linda Crouch; twelve grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one grandchild and one great-grandchild.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, August 1, 2021, at First Baptist Church in Raleigh, MS from 4:00 pm until 5:00 pm. with the service at 5:00 pm.  Bro. Danny Dickerson and Bro. Keith Ramage will officiate the service.  Interment will follow in Raleigh City Cemetery.
Arrangements are entrusted with Tutor Funeral Home of Magee.
