Beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather Benny Howard Monk of Mendenhall, Mississippi, entered into the presence of the Lord on Sunday, July 21, 2024. He was 89.
Benny’s Christian faith was an essential part of his life. He was actively involved during his life as a Sunday School teacher, Deacon, Choir member, and served on various Committees at First Baptist Church in Mendenhall, where he had great enjoyment serving the Lord.
Aside from the past three years, Benny lived his entire life in Mendenhall, Mississippi. During his teen years, many people still relied on an ice box to keep food cool, and he worked at the ice plant in Mendenhall making ice and helping his brother, Ellis, deliver ice. He met his wife, Ann, while delivering milk door-to-door. He found a lot of satisfaction in sales and later worked in snack vending, car, and insurance sales before retiring.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edd and Janie Monk; brothers, Ellis Monk and William Earl Monk; sister, Mary Francis Monk; daughter, Jennifer Monk; and granddaughter, Leslie Monk.
