DECEMBER 6, 1933 — MARCH 10, 2016

Bennie “Bo” Bland, 82, passed away March 10, 2016 at his residence. He was born on December 6, 1933 in Hazlehurst, Mississippi. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 12th at Stringer Family Funeral Home in Hazlehurst, Mississippi. Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, March 13, 2016 at Stringer Family Chapel with burial at New Providence Cemetery. Stringer Family Funeral Home in Hazlehurst is handling arrangements.

Mr. Bland, a native of Copiah County, was a faithful member of Shady Grove Baptist Church in Mize, MS. He was an Army veteran stationed at Ft. Hood, Texas during service. Mr. Bland was a retired barge engineer for Dixilyn Field O shore Drilling Company.

Bland is survived by his loving wife, Betty Craft Bland; sons, Lindsay Bland of Hazlehurst and Trent Bland (Kris) of Canton; step-sons, Jackie Craft (Brenda) of Mendenhall and Chris
Craft (Angie) of Mize; daughters, Leslie Wilson of Hazlehurst and Leisha Beckham (Ricky) of Brookhaven; step-daughters, Teresa Johnson (Charles) of Mize and Lori McAlpin (Art) of Magee; brothers, Leon Bland of Killeen, TX, Henry Lee Bland of Hazlehurst, Frank Bland of Union Church and Rubin Bland of Hazlehurst; sisters, Virgie Davis of Hazlehurst and Betty Higgs of Union Church; 15 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren.

Bland was preceded in death by his parents, Ira Bland and Virgie Mae Freeman Bland, and brothers, Everett Bland and Ira “Junior” Bland.
