The passage of Scripture chosen for today is found in 1 Peter 5:5: “Young men, in the same way, be submissive to those who are older. All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because, ‘God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.'” The apostles were often giving instructions to members of the early church with regard to proper conduct. The older ones were to be reverenced and held in high esteem. They were, in turn, to set examples for the newer and younger converts. All were to be submissive and display humility to one another, remembering that God does not favor the proud, but blesses the humble. Let us, likewise, remember that the BIBLE tells us, “Pride goeth before destruction and a haughty spirit before a great fall.” Amen!
