Armed Robbery- Wards

On January 3, 2018, at approximately 2157 Hours, a Wards Restaurant manager reported to the Magee Police Department via 911 that the business had been robbed at gunpoint by a man who took an undisclosed amount of cash from the business. The suspect had fled from the store. Magee Police Department officers responded to the scene and arrived within one minute of the reporting call. Shortly thereafter, the investigation resulted in the arrest of a 17-year-old male (name withheld due to age), Tamara Michelle Middleton, and Leigha Lagwin McCallum. The 17-year-old is charged with Armed Robbery. Tamara Michelle Middleton is charged with Armed Robbery. Leigha Lagwin McCallum is charged with Accesory After the Fact (Armed Robbery).

All subjects will have an initial appearance before Judge Eugene Knight on the charges on January 5, 2018. The case will be presented to the next term of the Simpson County Grand Jury.

Chief Randy Crawford stated that this case is still under investigation and more arrest are imminent.

Chief Crawford further praised the quick action of the officers and their ability to quickly capture the suspects.
