The Scriptural passage for today is found in Proverbs 17:9: “He who covers over an offense promotes love, but whoever repeats the matter separates close friends.” The writer of this verse of wisdom is speaking of a righteous man versus the local gossip. The wise man ignores idle chatter and does it because of the love of Jesus he possesses. The gossip does not care who is hurt or disparaged and simply goes about his day creating discord with careless abandon. Let it not be said of us that we are among the latter group. Rather, let us be known as people who exemplify love and strive to build up others. Amen!
We have another chance today to spread and share the love, joy, and kindness with all those with whom we come in contact. Let’s not be stingy and self-serving if we possess those marvelous gifts from God. “Others, Lord, yes, others. Let this my motto be,” as the old hymn proclaims. Smile and show a grateful heart.
Happy Wednesday!
