STATE FAIRGROUNDS, Miss. –  Commissioner of Agriculture and Commerce Andy Gipson announced the 166th Mississippi State Fair, to be held October 2-13, 2025, will take part in the nationwide Great American State Fair initiative.

Commissioner Gipson was joined by Governor Tate Reeves; Major General Bobby Ginn, The Adjutant General for Mississippi; Nancy Carpenter, Development Director of the America250 Mississippi Commission; Kathy Henry, Daughters of the American Revolution America250 State Chair; Brother Rogers, Historian with the Mississippi Department of Archives and History; and other officials.

“Mississippians are the most patriotic people in our entire nation. Our love of country is second to none, and I know that fact will be on full display throughout America250 Mississippi and the Great American State Fair,” said Governor Reeves.

The Great American State Fair initiative, launched by President Donald J. Trump as part of America250, was announced in Iowa on July 3rd and will travel across state fairs throughout the country. The Great American State Fair will culminate with a nationwide festival in Washington D.C. on the National Mall in 2026 where President Trump will recognize the most patriotic state fair.

“This year, we’re wrapping the fair in red, white and blue as we work to make the Mississippi State Fair the epicenter of all patriotic celebrations,” said Commissioner Gipson. “Preparations are already underway, and over the course of the 12-day event, we are offering a full lineup of patriotic festivities and family-friendly fun, including the Great American Parade, all-American shows and more. I’m especially excited to announce the grand finale planned for the final day of fair, Columbus Day, will feature a special performance by award-winning artist Lee Greenwood followed by a fireworks display.”

The Mississippi State Fairgrounds is working with Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins and the United States Department of Agriculture; the Governor’s Office and First Lady Elee Reeves; State Development Director Nancy Carpenter and the America250 Mississippi Commission; State Chair Kathy Henry and the Daughters of the American Revolution; the Mississippi Department of Archives and History; Major General Bobby Ginn and the Mississippi National Guard; Chief Cyrus Ben and the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians; Friends of Mississippi Veterans; various state and local law enforcement organizations; and others on the Great American State Fair for the state of Mississippi.

“America250 is not only a time to celebrate our great nation and honor its heroes, but it’s also an opportunity to give back. For the first time ever, fairgoers will have the opportunity to support our military veterans by donating directly to the Friends of Mississippi Veterans — a non-profit support organization for the more than 200,000 soldiers from our state who have bravely served in the United States Armed Forces,” continued Commissioner Gipson.

Commissioner Gipson and the Mississippi State Fairgrounds are seeking sponsors for this once-in-a-lifetime event. Any private individual or business interested in contributing to make the Mississippi State Fair the most patriotic State Fair in the country is urged to contact Deputy Commissioner and Acting Fairgrounds Director Hayes Patrick at hayes@mdac.ms.gov.

“I am so grateful that God allowed me to be born and raised in Mississippi and the greatest nation on earth – the United States of America. I invite everyone to come out, show off your Mississippi pride and American spirit, and when you come to the State Fair, don’t forget to wear your red, white and blue,” said Commissioner Gipson. “I want to challenge my fellow Mississippians to join us in making this year’s State Fair the best and most patriotic in the nation!”
