Wesley “Harrell” Stewart April 23, 1950 – September 30, 2026
Wesley “Harrell” Stewart, 76, of Clanton, Alabama, passed away on September 30, 2026, at UAB Hospital.
Harrell was born on April 23, 1950, in Magee, Mississippi, to the late Grady and Vertress Stewart. He spent 40 years working for International Paper in Prattville, Alabama where he served as a maintenance planner and a maintenance electrician. Harrell was a hardworking man who took great pride in his work and was known for his ability to fix, build, and figure out just about anything.
He was a faithful member of Bell Lane Baptist Church in Clanton, Alabama, where he served as a Sunday School teacher. His faith was an important part of his life, and he cherished the relationships he built through his church and community.
Harrell enjoyed fishing, camping, and reading, but perhaps what he enjoyed most was being a true “tinkerer.” He loved working with his hands, taking things apart, figuring out how they worked, and finding a way to make them better. His curiosity, resourcefulness, and willingness to help others will be remembered by all who knew him.
Above all, Harrell was a much-loved husband, Daddy, and Granddaddy. His family was his greatest joy, and he treasured every moment spent with them.
He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Stewart; daughter, Molly (Chad) Cameron; son, Max Stewart; granddaughters, Blair Cameron and Halle Kate Cameron; sisters-in-law, Sammie (Wayne) Powell and Shirley Rollan; brother-in-law, Phillip (Barbara) Rollan; nephews, Jeff (Alfredia) Shavers and Danny (Theresa) Shavers; nieces, Debra Crawford and Gwen (Steve) McDaniel; along with many other beloved nieces and nephews.
He is also survived by his first cousins in Mississippi, Mike (Sherry) Stewart, James Roberts, Joey Roberts, Robbin (Billy) Bishop, Tim (Kim) Thames, Suzan (Neal) Martin, Denise (Tim) Shows, and Patti (Chris) Patton.
Harrell was preceded in death by his parents, Grady Stewart and Vertress Stewart Smith; his father-in-law, Sam Rollan; his mother-in-law, Eva Rollan; sister-in-law, Virginia (David) Shavers; and nephew, Sam David Shavers.
Harrell leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, hard work, and family. He will be deeply missed by his wife, children, grandchildren, extended family, church family, and the many people whose lives he touched throughout his 76 years.
He was a much-loved Daddy and Granddaddy, and his family will forever cherish the memories, lessons, laughter, and love he gave them.
“Well done, good and faithful servant.”
