Mark Douglas Hankins, 63, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2026. He was born to Junior Hankins and Sara Shows Hankins on February 11, 1962, in Collins, MS.

Mark was a beloved life partner, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He leaves behind a lifetime of love, laughter, stories, and memories that will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He was a man of strong faith who loved the Lord and believed in the promise of eternal life. His faith was an important part of who he was, and though his family grieves his passing, they find comfort in knowing that he is now home with his Savior, where there is no pain, no sorrow, and no goodbyes.

Above all else, he loved his family. He adored his life partner, children, step-sons, and grandchildren. He found some of his greatest happiness in being surrounded by them. Mark loved making memories with them and passing along the stories, lessons, and traditions that will continue long after he is gone. His love for his family was unwavering, and there was no greater source of pride in his life.

Mark was happiest outdoors, and never needed much of a reason to head out the door. He loved the mountains, woods, running dogs, dog hunting, riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle, and the adventures that came with them. For him, life was meant to be lived outdoors, surrounded by people, places, and things he loved.

A longtime owner of South Fork Fish House and East Side Apartments, he was a hard-working man who spent years building a life through determination, perseverance, and an honest day’s work. His businesses became part of his legacy and connected him with countless people who became friends and family over the years.

He was the kind of man who left an impression. He could be strong-willed, independent, and set in his ways; but underneath it all was a heart that loved deeply. He loved his family fiercely, his friends genuinely, and his life fully.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Junior Hankins and Sara Shows Hankins; and his daughter, Jessica Hankins.

He is survived by his sons, Dewayne Hankins (Julie); Matthew Hankins (Whitney), Brian Cockrell (Jamie), Kannon Green (Haven); brother, Mike Hankins (Lisa); and sister, Susan Hankins Miller (Mike) and nine grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at Overflow Church in Magee, MS from 11:00 AM 1:00 PM. The service will be at 1:00 PM with Bro. Matt Temple officiating. Interment will follow at Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery.
