Billy Michael Gunter
(August 14, 1951 – February 8, 2023)
Billy Michael Gunter, 71 of Mize, Mississippi passed away from his earthly home to his heavenly home on Wednesday, February 8, 2023, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on Tuesday, August 14, 1951, in Magee, Mississippi.
Mike attended Oak Grove Baptist Church where he also served as Chairman of Deacons, Deacon, Sunday school teacher and Assistant Teacher.
He was employed by SEC where he oversaw many aspects in his role as GF in electrical line construction and maintenance. He enjoyed working with his crews. On the home front he was known as the man that could fix anything.
A host of family and friends will miss Mike’s huge personality and his large friendly heart. He will be remembered in his industry for his impeccable work ethics that he passed on to many.
He was preceded in death by his parents Billy and Macy Gunter, a son Mark LaLonde, in laws Elias and Olivia Guillory, brother-in-law Joseph Clayton Guillory and sister-in-law Lonna Faye Guillory.
Mike is survived by his wife of 47 years, Hazel Marie Gunter. Sons Jason Michael Gunter, Hattiesburg MS, Joshua Lee Gunter, Joseph Dylan-Micah Gunter all of Mize MS. Daughters Nicole (Nikki) Renee Templeton, Mize MS and Amber Adams, Oakdale CA. They have enjoyed 12 grandchildren who fondly called him Pop. Jon, Savannah, Abigail, Neal, Chloe, Mia, Paula, Alexis, Austin, Shelby, Sylar and Kaleb. Spouses and friends of their children are Stacey, Cody, Marie, Spencer, Ashleigh and Ted. Brothers Jimmy Lewis Gunter (Glenda) and Craig Allen Gunter (JoAnn) all of Mize MS, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 10, 2023, from 8:30 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, 302 8th Ave SW, Magee, Mississippi.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 10, 2023, at 12:00 p.m. at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home. The burial will follow in Zion Hill Cemetery in Mize, Mississippi. Bro. John Barnes will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Magee is in charge of arrangements. 601-849-5031
Pallbearers will be Gary Rogers, Joey Gentry, Ronnie Taylor, Lance McKinley, John Amory Darden, and BJ Hartfield.
Honorary pallbearers will be his grandsons and lineman family.
