TRAFFIC ALERT:  Traffic Signals and Highway Closure in Yazoo City Due to Severe Weather
 
JACKSON, MISS., Monday, November 29, 2010---According to Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) officials, due to severe thunderstorms that have moved across the state tonight, traffic signals in Yazoo City on Highway 49 is inoperable due to power outages.
 
MDOT would like to announce to motorists that traffic signals on Highway 49 in Yazoo City our out due to severe thunderstorms that have moved through the state.  On Highway 149/State Route 16 the highway is closed due to down power lines and down power poles.
 
MDOT crews have removed all trees on Highway 12 and west of I-55.  Highway 12 has reopened to traffic.  MDOT crews are out in full force monitoring the highway for trees that may be blocking the highway in Yazoo City and surrounding areas.
 
MDOT will keep you posted as information becomes available pertaining to traffic signals in Yazoo City and Highway 149/State Route 16.
