Kasey Catherine Keith was awarded the Member of the Year Award for the University of Southern Mississippi Region at the recently held America Reads Mississippi Service Celebration held in Jackson.
Kasey has served Americorp for two years at Mendenhall Elementary School where she has been Team Leader for both years.
She graduated from USM and is currently enrolled in graduate school at William Carey University majoring in school counseling.
Asked about her most memorable ARM experience and she would probably say her entire first year of ARM! Kasey states, “My first year included a lot of “firsts.” Not only was it my first year of service, but it was also the first year this program had been implemented at our school and they chose me as team leader! Somehow we managed to navigate our way through the ever changing schedules, the trainings, and tutoring sessions together. While we saw some of the changes we had made in our students, we had no idea the impact we were making not only on our students, but on the school and community as well. It was a year that really changed my life, and one I won’t forget!”
Kasey is the daughter of Mike and Alicia Keith of Magee.
