Scholarship donors and recipients were honored at the Co-Lin Foundation ninth annual scholarship reception held at The Thames Center on the Wesson Campus. The Co-Lin Foundation provides over $100,000 in scholarships to over 140 Co-Lin students. Listed here are a few of the awarded scholarships and the recipients.
First Picture: Scholarship recipients from Simpson County are William Ashley of Magee, Mazary Brewer Scholarship (left) and Alex Hamilton of Mendenhall, Donald Ashley Chick Smith Memorial Scholarship.
Second Picture: Nicole Magee of Magee (seated at right) is the recipient of the Russell Ray Leadership Endowment presented through the Copiah-Lincoln Community College Foundation. Established in 2002 by the Co-Lin Trailblazers and the Eta Omega Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa to honor former sponsor Russell Ray. The scholarship is awarded to a freshman Trailblazer and PTK member for their sophomore year. Third Picture: Bradley Boykin of Mt. Olive (seated center) is the recipient of the Darlene Johnson Memorial Scholarship presented through the Copiah-Lincoln Community College Foundation. The Co-Lin Trailblazers established this scholarship in memory of Nancy Darlene Johnson. The scholarship is awarded each year to a sophomore Trailblazers who has, in the opinion of fellow Trailblazers and advisors, represented Copiah-Lincoln in an outstanding manner, exemplifying the spirit of a Trailblazer. Fourth Picture: Jason Giangrosso of Mt. Olive (standing center) is the recipient of the Beatrice and Cecil Farmer Memorial Scholarship. Criteria for the scholarship includes begin a graduate of Simpson County Academy, have a B average, be of good character and a full-time student at Co-Lin. On hand for the presentation were seated from left, Neal Lee, Marie Farmer, Gene Farmer; standing from left, Co-Lin President Dr. Ronnie Nettles, Jason Giangrosso, and Co-Lin Foundation Board Member Kenny Goza.
