Walter N. (Nial) Rook, Jr. of Braxton passed away August 20, 2012.
 Visitation is Saturday August 25, 2012 at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Mendenhall from 11am until 1pm with services in the chapel at 2pm with Rev. Jeffrey Wal officiating. Burial will be at Lakewood Memorial Park in Jackson at 3:30pm following the services.   Nial was born September 8, 1923 in Indiana, Pennsylvania the only son of Walter Nial Rook, Sr. and Helen Houston Rook. He graduated from Indiana Public High School. While in High School, he began flying and earned his private pilot’s license. He proudly served in the Army Air Corps during the war serving in the South Pacific as a Flight Officer on a B-29 Super-fortress. While training he was stationed at the Jackson Army Air Base and married Evelyn Maloney of Jackson. Nial was employed as an electrician and worked for Drake & Braswell Electric Company for forty years. Nial was an avid square dancer and enjoyed calling from time-to-time.   Nial was a member of St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in Magee where he sang in the choir. At the time of his death, he was a member of the Cathedral of St. Peter the Apostle in Jackson.
 Nial is preceded in death by parents his sisters: Jane Krenitsky and Betty Fleming.
 He is survived by his wife Evelyn and sister Chris Sykes of Atlanta his children Bill and wife Carole of Braxton, Peter and wife Liz of Starkville and Walt and wife Susan of Mendenhall his grandchildren: Stephen Rook of Little Rock, Michael Rook of Nashville, Matthew Rook of Los Angles, Tony Rook (Lisa) of Starkville and Tina Lindsay (Joel) of Birmingham and four great-grandchildren.   Pallbearers are Michael Rook, Stephen Rook, Joel Lindsay, Joe McDiffett, Paul Magee, Johnny Bush and Tony Rook.  Honorary Pallbearers are Patrick Jefferson, Billy J. McPhail, Bob Kalka and Dr. Amnuey Chiemprabha.   In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cathedral of St. Peter the Apostle, P O Box 57 Jackson, MS 39205-0057.
