Sunday night, May 27th, proved to be a night that brought amazing grace for two young Simpson County guys.  Traveling at a high rate of speed, a red truck, occupied by a 19 and a 20 year old males, ran off the road near the pastor's home hitting the church's mail box then blasted through the brick church sign causing the brick sign to explode sending bricks raining down by the church, on the church, over the church, on the roof, and all the way to the parking lot on the "other" side of the church.  The truck went airborne and was stopped when it crashed into the side of the building.
Both boys suffered minor injuries.  Brother Chris Carter, pastor of Goodwater Baptist Church, explained, "it is not about the bricks and glass…that can be repaired…we are praising God for the safety of the two boys."
Goodwater Baptist Church is planning a clean up Wednesday night beginning at 6:00 PM and a prayer service of thanksgiving for the sparing of the lives of the young men.  "Everyone is invited to come and help clean up the church….and to pray," said Brother Carter.
The following videos give a visual tour of the damage.  (video will be posted by 8:00 PM Monday night)

Glass was on the other side of the church, along with bricks on the floor and pews. The bathroom was also demolished. When emergency personnel responded, the two boys were sitting on the front steps. They had been at a friends house all day, and they both admitted they had been drinking. Both went straight to UMC by ambulance from the scene to for to get checked out.

The pictures and videos do not compare to seeing the crash scene in person. Without a doubt God was with these two young men Sunday night. They both are very fortunate to even be alive, much less to have survived with only minor injuries. God definitely has a purpose for them both. This reminds me of the verse Luke 5:26-Everyone was amazed and gave praise to God. They were filled with awe and said, "We have seen remarkable things today."

These boys are some of my closest friends& we had all been hanging out earlier in the night. I rushed up to UMC as soon as I heard about the accident. They stayed in the ER most of the early morning& were later released that day. Words cant describe what a miracle this is. After such a violent accident, neither one of them should've walked away. I don't know what I would've done if they had been seriously hurt. Our God is a great& merciful one. They both claim to be changed men now, and for that I praise the Lord. God's grace protected these boys& I pray nothing like this will ever happen again.
